Rev. Bill Dawson, age 75

Rev. Bill Dawson, age 75 went home rejoicing with his heavenly Father on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019.  He was born June 1, 1943 in Blount County, Tennessee to the late Edgar “Bud” and Laura Dawson.  Bill served in the Army from 1964-1970.  Bill pastored several churches in the Anderson County area for over thirty years.  The last church Bill pastored was Poplar Creek Baptist Church for 14 years.  He was a faithful member of 2nd Baptist Church in Clinton.  Bill worked for C.U.B. for 44 years with co-workers he considered family.  He was preceded in death by parents, Edgar “Bud” & Laura Dawson; brother, Jerry Dawson.

He is survived by:

Loving wife and best friend of 54 years……… Helen Dawson

Daughter……………………..  Kim (Chris) Howell of Oak Ridge

Son……………………….          Mark Dawson of Oak Ridge

Grandchildren………….      Kristopher Bell of Clinton

Brother-in-law……              Roger (Ella) Simmons of Clinton

The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.  His Celebration of Life service will follow in the chapel with Rev. Michael Thompson, Paul Dawson, and Steve Dawson officiating.  Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.  holleygamble.com

    Preacher Bill was a kewl & wonderful man. My children & I sat under him many years at Poplar Springs Church. He loved everybody. And he encouraged you to “have a relationship with Jesys”, not depend on mans view.
    Even though I have not seen him in years, hes always had a place in my families hearts.
