RCSO investigating how truck ended up in water

According to our partners at BBB-TV, the Roane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a Ford Ranger pickup truck was pulled out of the water near Caney Creek Marina on Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff Jack Stockton told BBB that late Tuesday night, Rescue Squad units had responded to the area after a fisherman using a depth finder spotted something u nusual that he thought might be a vehicle.

Wednesday afternoon, members of the Rescue Squad and TWRA officers managed to retrieve the pickup from its resting spot.

Investigators say that there was no one inside the vehicle or any items that might be useful in identifying who may have been driving the pickup, but did report finding damage to the truck’s roof consistent with what might be seen after a rollover crash.

If you have any information that might be useful in identifying the truck’s owner or the reasons why it was in the water, call the Roane County Sheriff’s Office at 865-376-5582.
