Lady Dragons look to keep postseason going at Maryville

High school basketball’s posteason has finally reached the region round and local teams will be busy Friday and Saturday.

Girls’ play begins tonight at 7 pm across East Tennessee.

In Region 2AAA, tune in tonight at 7:00 immediately following Trading Time Primetime for the Fox & Farley Full Court Press presentation of the Clinton Lady Dragons at Maryville. Clinton comes in with a 20-10 record while the Lady Rebels carry a 21-7 mark into tonight’s match-up, the first meeting between these schools since Maryville ended Clinton’s last Region tournament appearance in 2010, 57-40.

Elsewhere in Region 2AAA, Oak Ridge hosts District 4 regular season champion Hardin Valley, while Campbell County hosts William Blount and Powell travels to Bearden.

Region 2AA action has the Northview Academy girls at Alcoa, Pigeon Forge at Fulton, Kingston at Carter and Scott at Gatlinburg-Pittman.

Region 2A action tonight sends Sale Creek to Midway, while Wartburg hosts Copper Basin, Sunbright visits Tellico Plains and Oneida travels to Lookout Valley.

In Region 1A action, Jellico’s girls visit North Greene tonight.

Saturday will mark the opening of the boys’ Region tournament, with game times set for 7:00 pm.

In Region 2AAA, Anderson County travels to Maryville to face former coach Mark Eldridge’s Rebels, Oak Ridge stays at home for Catholic, Powell stays home for William Blount and Karns visits Bearden.

In Region 2AA, Kingston plays at Union County, Scott hits the road for Carter, Gibbs is at Alcoa and Fulton will host the Northview Academy.

Region 2A action Saturday sends Coalfield to Tellico Plains and Rockwood to Sale Creek, while Harriman will host CSAS and Oakdale stays at home for Lookout Valley.

In Region 1A, the Jellico boys play at North Greene Saturday night at 7:00.
