Howard E. Crowder “Ed” Sr.

Howard E. Crowder “Ed” Sr. passed away December 31, 2017 at Summit View of Rocky Top at the age of 80. Ed is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Ann Crowder; his son and daughter-in-law, Howard “Eddie” Crowder, Jr. and Kimberly; two grandchildren, Cameron Crowder and Madison Crowder; special Cousins, Mildred Allmon and Evelyn Bannister.

Ed was born on July 18, 1937 in Maryville, TN. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1955. He married Barbara, his high school sweetheart, in 1957. Ed served in the Air Force from 1958 to 1962 after which he and Barbara moved to St. Louis where Ed began working for McDonnell Douglas as an aircraft mechanic then moved into engineering and design of containers. While in St. Louis, Ed and Barbara welcomed their son Eddie into the world. In 1969 Ed took a job in Oak Ridge, TN with the Y-12 National Security Complex where he remained until his retirement.

Ed was an accomplished golfer and avid Dirt track racing fan. He was a member of the Alpha Lodge #376 in Clinton, TN. Ed enjoyed landscaping, grilling and spending time with family and friends.

The funeral receiving and service will be held Thursday evening, January 11, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, TN with a graveside burial to follow on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 2 PM at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Oak Ridge, TN. Rev. Jason Bowen will lead the remembrance service after the receiving. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ed’s life. If you wish to attend the graveside burial, we ask that you meet at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park at the “Garden of Love”. There will be no processional from the funeral home to the cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers include: Eddie Crowder, Jr., Keith Parker, Roger Parker, Cameron Crowder and John Guttery.
