The Oak Ridge Wildcats are headed back to the Region 2AAA championship after knocking off Maryville Tuesday night 3-1. The Wildcats got first half goals from Brent Robinson and Austin Vinyard and a goal early in the second from Casey Nigh as they dominated the Rebels. Oak Ridge will host Farragut, which dismantled Central 7-2 in the other semifinal, on Thursday for the region championship and home-field advantage in Saturday’s sectional round, which will determine who plays for a state title.
On the softball diamond, Powell eliminated Heritage from the Region 2AAA tournament with a 7-1 win in Maryville and will face Gibbs in an all District 3 Region final tonight. Elsewhere, the Region 2AA championship will come down to Union County at CAK and the Region 1A softball championship matches up Tellico Plains at Meigs County.
On the baseball diamond, the Region 2AAA championship game sends Farragut to Maryville, while CAK visits Pigeon Forge for the Region 2AA crown and Grace Christian plays host to Greenback in the Region 1A title tilt.
