Car wash to help veterans

A Blount County teenager will hold a car wash this Saturday at the Blount County Chamber of Commerce in Maryville to raise money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which aims to help returning soldiers with traumatic brain injuries deal with those often unseen wounds.

This is the 4th year that this 16-year-old boy has taken it upon himself to recruit volunteers and raise money for these wounded warriors.

Recruiters and new recruits from all branches of the military volunteer to help out and they, in turn, are fed by Full Service BBQ.

All money raised is taken to Fort Campbell and donated directly to the commander of that base’s Intrepid Center of Excellence, where soldiers are treated for TBIs and their lasting effects.

For more information, visit Facebook and search for “JT Russell’s Intrepid Center/Fallen Heroes Fund Fundraiser,” call Kimberly Russell at 865-755-8508 or visit https://www.fallenheroesfund.org/Intrepid-Spirit-Centers.aspx.

The car wash will run from 10 am to 2 pm this Saturday May 20th.
