XFS: Logano wins Saturday in Vegas

(MRN) Joey Logano took his final lead fifty-five laps from the finish and kept the Number-12 Team Penske Ford in front the rest of the way Saturday in Las Vegas, successfully managing four restarts in the second half of the race to claim his twenty-eighth career victory. Logano’s winning margin was six-tenths of a second over runner-up Kyle Larson and Daniel Suarez grabbed third place as Cup Series drivers swept the top three spots. Justin Allgaier and Austin Dillon completed the top five. Logano started fourth and in total, led a race-high 106 laps to end Ford’s three-year X-finity Series dry spell in Vegas. Cole Custer was the highest-finishing rookie, in eleventh place.

Pole sitter Kyle Busch won the first stage, led forty-eight laps and finished seventh overall in the forty-car field.

There were just eight lead changes in Saturday’s race, but that’s still six more than last year when Busch claimed a dominating victory.
