Tree falls on car, no injuries

A large oak tree on South Tennessee Avenue in LaFollette fell on a passing vehicle with a family of four inside Thursday afternoon, but miraculously, no one inside the SUV was injured.

The tree fell at around 1 pm, taking down power lines and blocking the road.

The family in the vehicle—a father, a mother and two young girls—all escaped without injury.

The tree brought down power lines and knocked out power to hundreds of LaFollette Utility and service to a similar number of Comcast customers. Crews were able to restore power to the area by around 8:30 pm Thursday.
