Opening Day for HS baseball, softball

High school baseball and softball seasons began Monday in Tennessee.

Locally, on the baseball diamond, Clinton opened the Matt Byrd era with a 10-0 win over Northview Academy, Carter slipped by Anderson County 4-3, Oak Ridge battered Gatlinburg-Pittman 13-3, King’s Academy knocked off Campbell County 7-6, and Rockwood and Grace Christian split a doubleheader with Rockwood winning 3-2 and Grace winning 7-2.

On the softball diamond, it was perennial power Gibbs spoiling the debut of Lecia Watson as Clinton softball coach, hammering the Lady Dragons 13-1. Elsewhere, Anderson County clubbed Campbell County 17-0 and Rockwood got past Oak Ridge 12-9.
