ON THE AIR: Double dip from Phoenix desert

This weekend brings us another NASCAR doubleheader from the desert as the Xfinity and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series’ both head to Phoenix International Raceway.

Saturday at 3:30, the Xfinity Series runs the DC Solar 200 as Elliott Sadler enters the weekend with a four-point lead over Ryan Reed in the series standings. This is the 13th running of the Phoenix spring race and Kyle Busch is the defending champion. He is not entered in Saturday’s race, which you can hear on WYSH and WQLA.

Sunday at 2:30, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series barrels into Phoenix for the Camping World 500. Kevin Harvick has dominated at Phoenix, winning seven races at the track and six of the past nine Cup Series events there. That includes a dramatic win in last year’s race, where Harvick beat Carl Edwards to the line by only one one-hundredth of a second after contact on the final lap. Coverage begins Sunday at 2:30 on WYSH, WQLA and on Merle FM.
