Man indicted on attempted murder charge

The Anderson County grand jury this month indicted a Rocky Top man on a charge of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a weapon stemming from an incident that occurred in 2015.

38-year-old Steven Rice will be arraigned on the charges Friday in Criminal Court.

Rocky Top Police were called to a home on Wallace Avenue in the early-morning hours of August 30th, 2015 after Rice allegedly threatened his wife with a pistol and then fired it when three other people in the house at the time tackled him. No one was injured in the incident.

He was arrested that night and released on bond a few days later.
