ACSD investigates robbery

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a suspect in a strong arm robbery that occurred Tuesday on Hillvale Road in Clinton.

Deputies were called to the Git N Go on Seivers Boulevard near the interstate at around 1:45 pm and made contact with the victim, a Clinton resident, who told them that she had been robbed in the driveway of a home on Hillvale just a short time earlier. She told deputies that she had gone to the residence to give a man she was able to identify a ride into town, but when she pulled up, he asked her to get out of the car so he could talk to her privately.

When she exited the vehicle, the victim says that the suspect pushed her to the ground, reached into her car and stole $42 from her wallet. The victim said she was afraid for her life and immediately left the scene, calling 911 from the convenience store. Her sister was in the car and verified the victim’s account of the incident and both gave written statements to investigators.

The suspect fled the scene without re-entering the house and a resident there told deputies she believed that the victim had come to the house to sell the suspect pills. She told them she did not see what had happened in the driveway but did say she heard a “disturbance.”

A warrant will be issued for the suspect on a charge of robbery. We will update you as more information becomes available.
