5K Run and Walk part of Relay for Life

The American Cancer Society is excited to announce the first 5K Run and Walk at the actual Relay For Life event in Anderson County.  The event will take place on Friday, May 5th at 8:00 PM at Melton Lake Park in Oak Ridge.  Individuals ages 12 and up are invited to participate by either walking or running to help raise money in the quest to create a world with less cancer by helping people get well and stay well, by finding cures and by fighting back against cancer.

To register for this event, please go to the website, www.runsignup.com.  You may locate the event by typing in Anderson County Twilight which will take you to the event page.  Individuals may support one of the local teams participating in Relay For Life or may create a team of their own.  This is a great way to honor or remember someone you love whose life has been touched by cancer.  Early bird registration is $35 through April 16th.  The registration fee will increase to $40 from April 17th until race day and same day registration is $45.  The registration table will be open at 6:45 PM the day of the race on May 5th.  All participants will receive the race t-shirt.  Awards will be given to the top 3 males and females, as well at the top 2 runners in each age category.  The award presentation will take place after the Luminaria Ceremony which remembers our loved ones who have lost their battle against cancer, our loved ones living with cancer and people we know who are now cancer free.  Luminaria bags for loved ones will be for sale at the event for $5 or may be purchased in advance from a Relay For Life team.
