Union home invasion ends with 1 dead

Union County authorities are investigating an apparent home invasion that ended with one of the suspects shot to death. Dispatchers were called at around 4 am Thursday on a report that two masked men had forced their way into a home on Beard Valley Road. The resident confronted the suspects and shot at them as they fled.

Responding officers found one man dead at the scene of a gunshot wound. The second suspect fled the scene.
