Herman McWayne (Coalfield Herman) Jackson, age 83, of Coalfield

Herman McWayne (Coalfield Herman) Jackson, age 83, of Coalfield, went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was born September 9, 1932 in Coalfield and was a lifetime resident of Morgan County and the Coalfield community. He was a charter member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield, very faithful, always enjoyed working in VBS and being with his church family. Coalfield Herman, as many knew him, could be heard on local radio sports shows in Knoxville such as Sports Talk Radio and was an avid sports enthusiast who bled the color orange, holding season tickets over 40 years to UT football. When he was not attending sports events at UT or his alma-mater, Coalfield, he enjoyed fishing and also took pride in gardening, winning many ribbons for his 65-70 pound watermelons at the Morgan County Fair. Herman had worked at X-10 as a millwright, retiring from the K-25 plant as a Planner/Estimator with over 45 years of service. He was also a charter member of the Coalfield Lions Club. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Lottie B. Justice Jackson; parents, Ezra (Buck) Jackson & Carrie Ruffner Jackson and sister, Bobbie Krey.

The family will receive friends 3:00 -7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield with funeral service following at 7:00 p.m., in the church sanctuary with Dr. Greg Jackson and Dr. Kirk Wallace officiating. Those wishing to go in procession will meet at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2016 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1306 Fairview Road Coalfield, TN 37719, to proceed to Estes Cemetery for 11:00 a.m., graveside service conducted by Dr. Billy Edmonds. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Coalfield School Athletic Fund, PO Box 98 Coalfield, TN 37719. Online register book can be signed at www.frakerfuneralhome.net . Fraker Funeral Home of Kingston is in charge of all the arrangements.
