Erb chosen to be AC Finance Director

Tuesday, the Anderson County Finance Committee voted to offer the job of Finance Director to local CPA Natalie Erb.

Erb was chosen from a slate of five finalists for the position following interviews earlier this month.

The Finance Committee was created when the county adopted the 1981 state financial management system law earlier this year. That committee—made up of four commissioners, the mayor, the school director and the road superintendent—was given the power to hire and fire the county’s budget and purchasing directors—responsibilities previously held by the mayor’s office.

Longtime former Budget Director Chris Phillips stepped down due to the uncertainty surrounding the switch before it happened and longtime Deputy Budget Director Connie Cook-Aytes has been serving as the interim budget director ever since. She was among the finalists for the position. The switch and questions about it also prompted longtime Purchasing Director Pamela Cotham to resign last month and her vacant position is the next that will be filled by the Finance Committee.
