Harriman residents to weigh in on sales tax hike

Tuesday night, the Harriman City Council voted on second and final reading to place a question on the August ballot in Roane County asking Harriman residents if they would favor an increase in the Local Option Sales Tax. The proposed increase would be by one-quarter of a cent and revenue generated by the hike would be used specifically for road-paving and other infrastructure improvement projects in the city. The question will appear on the August ballot.
