Three people were taken into custody on charges connected to a robbery Tuesday morning in a mobile home park near Clinton.
According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department, a 22 year old Clinton man flagged down a passing deputy on Laurel Road near Cedar Grove Lane around 9 am Tuesday to report he had been beaten and robbed by four people, three men and a woman. The victim told deputies he had stayed overnight with one of the men and the next morning, was offered a ride by another man. However, instead of giving him a ride, he was severely beaten and robbed of money, prescription drugs and his cell phone. The victim said he was familiar with the three men and identified them as his attackers while providing a description of the car they were driving.
A short time later other deputies responded to a single vehicle crash on Old Lake City Highway involving the three male suspects in the robbery. Two of the three were arrested at the scene for charges related to the robbery. The third male, a juvenile, was taken into custody after being treated for injuries from the crash at UT Medical Center.
Deputies arrested 27-year-old Brandon Lee Mayes of Powell, and 20-year-old Dylon James Dotson of Clinton, along with a 17 year old male on charges of aggravated robbery and felony theft. Dotson also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on a violation of his pretrial release. Both Mayes and Dotson are being held in the Anderson County Jail. The juvenile is being held in the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Facility in Knoxville.
The victim initially refused to be transported by EMS but was later taken to the hospital by family members.
The investigation is described as ongoing.
