Sherman G. Carroll, 78, Oliver Springs

Sherman G. Carroll age 78, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Sherman was born January 28, 1938 in Devonia, to the union of Daniel and Roxie Seiver Carroll who preceded him in death. He lived in this area for most of his life and was a retired coal miner having worked for many different companies and operating his own coal mine for a time also. He attended Cove Road Primitive Baptist Church when able.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife Willie Mae Goad Carroll; son Ronnie Carroll daughter Donna Carroll; brothers, Herman, Thurman and Hurley Carroll; two sisters Lorrina Tippitt and Maggie Carroll.

Survived by wife, Opal Lane Carroll; sons Ricky Carroll and wife Kim of Oliver Springs; and Jon Carter and wife Lindsey of Chattanooga; brothers Charles Ray Carroll and Danny and wife Deloris Carroll all of Oliver Springs; sisters Corrina and husband Billy Stittums and Viola and husband Curt Easter also of Oliver Springs; three grandchildren Allison and Adam Carroll and Orian Carter as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends including his hunting and fishing buddies; Ronnie Hamrick, Richard Moran, Brian Cranmore, Chris Webb, Jackie Wright, Casey Laymance, Eric Mason, Lawrence Patterson, Danny, Linda and Daniel Cox and many more.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2016 at Premier Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs, with services immediately following at 8:00 p.m., with Rev. Lee Phillips, Pastor Matt Reed and Brian Cranmore officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m., Saturday February 6, 2016 at Oliver Springs Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m., graveside service with Pastor Thomas Vananda officiating.
