Presidential primaries March 1st

The presidential primary and county primaries are March 1 in Tennessee. While there will be several presidential candidates on the republican and Democratic ballots, there are no contests in the Anderson County primary, where incumbent Republican Property Assessor John K. Alley Jr. is running unopposed for a second four-year term.
Other Anderson County offices such as mayor, sheriff, and commissioner will not be voted on until 2018.
The Anderson County Elections Commission says that the March 1 ballots haven’t been finalized yet.
The state primary and county general election is August 4.
The state and federal general election is November 8. That election will include candidates for Oak Ridge City Council and Oak Ridge Board of Education.
Oak Ridge City Council member Trina Baughn, Charlie Hensley, and Chuck Hope all have four-year terms ending in November. So do Oak Ridge Board of Education members Angi Agle and Keys Fillauer. The incumbents have not yet publicly declared whether they will run again, and so far, no new candidates have emerged.
It’s also not clear yet if U.S. Representative Chuck Fleischmann, an Ooltewah Republican, will have an opponent if he chooses to run again, or if Tennessee Representative John Ragan, an Oak Ridge Republican, will either. Both Fleischmann and Ragan have had opponents in the past three elections, and each serves a two-year term.
