NASCAR coming to Merle FM in February

Merle 96.7 (WMYL/Knoxville) today announced that it will be airing NASCAR SPRINT CUP races beginning with The Daytona 500 in February 2016. Merle’s sister station, WYSH AM 1380 / FM 101.1 in Clinton, is the Knoxville affiliate for all races and racing programs from both The Motor Racing Network (MRN) and The Performance Racing Network (PRN). The addition of Merle 96.7 as a NASCAR affiliate puts NASCAR Sprint Cup races on the FM band in Knoxville for the first time ever.
Says Merle FM and WYSH Owner and General Manager Ron Meredith: “We’ve been a radio partner with NASCAR for going on three decades with PRN and MRN [and] are proud of our association with them. With the wonderful growth we’ve enjoyed over the years, this will be a good fit for our current loyal listeners and future loyal listeners.”
Merle FM will carry thirty-nine Sprint Cup races in 2016. WYSH will continue to carry the Sprint Cup races plus Xfinity series races and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races for a total of 95 events. NASCAR fans can listen over the air at 96.7 FM in Knoxville, 1380 AM and 101.1 FM in Anderson County, and anywhere in the world on the internet at www.wyshradio.com and www.merlefm.com.
To celebrate the addition of Merle FM to the NASCAR family we will be giving away tickets to a number of races throughout the year on both of our radio stations.
For fans of the Sunday Survey with Dan Bell that currently airs on Merle FM Sundays at 12 noon. Do not worry. The Sunday Survey will simply move to Saturday 10am – 2pm.
WYSH has been serving the Anderson County area and East Tennessee for more than 56 years and is the most listened to radio station in Anderson County. Merle FM WMYL is Knoxville’s fastest growing radio station and one of the top rated country music stations in East Tennessee. Merle FM is home to some of East Tennessee’s favorite radio personalities, Jack Ryan, Ed Brantley, Phil Jarnagin, Mike Hammond, Dan Bell and others, and boasts an ACM Station of the year and personality of the year nomination within its first 6 years on the air, something unheard of in such a competitive market and industry.
