Clinton splits with Carter; OR dominates Powell

Thursday, the Clinton Dragons and Lady Dragons returned to the hardwood after a week and a half off due to the weather, hosting the Carter Hornets.

In game one, the Lady Hornets took advantage of a slow start by Clinton and a fast start by their Che Davis to build a lead that was able to withstand a solid second half performance by the Lady Dragons on their way to a 66-56 victory. Davis scored 19 of her game-high 25 points in the first half. Clinton was led by Nikki Jones’ 14 points and also got 10 points from Kelley Wandell in her first game back after suffering a knee injury.

In the nightcap, the Clinton boys blew out Carter 76-52 as 11 Dragons scored, led by Trevon Hill’s 16 points and J’Quan Thomas’s 12.

Elsewhere, the Oak Ridge girls blasted Powell 63-43 and the Wildcat boys hammered the Panthers 85-51.

The Karns boys beat Central 50-37 while Central’s boys wiped out a 19-point halftime deficit to edge Karns 78-75.
