Campbell woman charged in grandmother’s death

A Campbell County woman is facing a charge of criminal homicide in connection to the death of her 84-year-old grandmother. Campbell County deputies found the body of Mona Marcum inside her Lafollette home just after 9 am Tuesday after responding to a 911 call reportedly made by the woman now charged in her death. Authorities say that 33-year-old Jodi Lee Smith called 911 and told dispatchers that she had just committed “a violent crime” against her grandmother. Investigators have not said how Marcum died. At last check, Smith remained in custody at the Campbell County Jail.
