1 arrested in Saturday home invasion

The Anderson County Sheriff’s department says one person is in custody and more charges could be filed in a home invasion robbery reported to them on Saturday morning. The incident happened Saturday morning at a mobile home in Ben’s Mobile Home Park off of Edgemoor Road in Claxton and the victim told responding deputies that he had been assaulted and robbed at gunpoint of his prescription medication by two men. The ACSD reported that the man was treated for a minor head wound at an area emergency room. Two other people inside the home at the time of the robbery were not hurt. The suspects’ vehicle description was broadcast to surrounding law enforcement agencies and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office soon located the car and detained its occupants, a man and a woman. The woman was released after questioning with no charges filed, but 31-year-old Michael John Cathcart of Powell was arrested and charged with three counts each of aggravated robbery and aggravated assault as well as with one count of theft. Investigators are continuing to work this case and officials say a second arrest is pending the outcome of that investigation.
