Tennova announces Lafollette renovation

(Tennova) Tennova Healthcare today announced plans for a $3.2 million construction project at the LaFollette Health & Rehabilitation Center, located at 200 Torrey Road in LaFollette. The 98-bed facility will receive major improvements including a new main entrance and solarium, the addition of an activities-of-daily-living suite, a physical therapy gym area, and updates to all resident bedrooms.
The nine-month project begins in early October and will be phased to enable the center to remain open with minimal disruption to residents and their families during construction. Completion is expected by summer 2016.
“This construction project represents a major investment in the LaFollette community, and demonstrates our commitment to patients and families in Campbell County,” said Mark Cain, chief executive officer of Lafollette Medical Center and the nursing and rehabilitation facility. “The renovations we are making will modernize the center and enable our compassionate, professional staff to continue delivering excellent care to residents in an updated, comfortable setting.”
The first phase of the project will include the new main entrance and solarium as well as resident bedrooms on the third floor of the facility. The initial phases are expected to take four months with completion by February 2016. Subsequent phases will address the remaining resident rooms on the second floor, nursing stations and community rooms, plus the physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy areas.
“The most visible upgrades will be the new solarium and our therapy areas,” Cain said. “But residents and visitors will also see brand new flooring, improved lighting, modern cabinetry and updated furnishings throughout the facility. When completed, the center will be renewed from top to bottom.”
The LaFollette Health & Rehabilitation Center opened its doors in 1968. Conveniently connected to LaFollette Medical Center, it is a skilled and intermediate care facility, which offers nursing care and rehabilitation services on a short- or long-term basis.
