HS Football polls for week of 10/19

The high school football polls for this week were released on Monday. Here is a look at how area teams stack up according to the Associated Press. In Class 6A, Maryville continues to lead the way at #1. In Class 5A, six of the top ten are either teams from the WYSH coverage area or are potential first-round playoff match-ups for our local teams. Morristown West is #2, with Ooltewah #3, Knox West at #4, Oak Ridge at #6, Farragut at #7 and Sevier County at #10. Morristown West plays at Sevier County Thursday night. In Class 4A, Fulton is #1 and Greeneville hangs in at #2, while Knox Central held fast at #7. In Class 3A, Alcoa remains #1 with CAK #2 and Kingston fell two spots to #9 after Friday’s loss to Alcoa. Rockwood cracked the Class 2A poll, debuting at #9 after knocking off Austin-East Friday. A-E fell to #10 with that loss. In Class 1A, Greenback is #8 and Coalfield is #10.
