Oak Ridge police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred Monday night on Wakefield Road, the third such incident since Saturday night. In Monday’s incident, no one was injured, but two bullets entered a vacant bedroom of a home on Wakefield. The shooting occurred shortly before 8:30 pm and our partners at Oak Ridge Today report that investigators found 21 shell casings at the scene. The suspect in that incident has not been apprehended. Investigators are also looking into the possibility that a three-car accident at the corner of North Illinois Avenue and West Outer Drive near the Hilltop Market might be related as the driver of one of the vehicles involved reportedly fled on foot, prompting a search by numerous Oak Ridge police officers and Anderson County Sheriff’s deputies that included at least one K-9 unit. As of the time this report was filed, that person had not been located. Monday’s incident comes on the heels of three shooting incidents reported to Oak Ridge Police over the weekend. The first incident involved a man running after another man firing shots at around 11 pm Saturday and the second was a drive-by on South Fisk Avenue at around 3 am Sunday. Another report of shots fired came in Sunday afternoon, but it was not until just before 11 pm Sunday that officers located a vehicle matching the description of one believed to have been involved in at least two of the earlier incidents. 20-year-old Debriael Hall led authorities on a chase that tore through Knox County, Jefferson County, Blount County, Sevier County, and Cocke County, where officers finally ended the pursuit by deploying spike strips. Hall was arrested and taken to the Anderson County Jail on multiple counts of reckless endangerment, aggravated assault and felony evasion as well as a host of moving violations and other charges from the other counties and cities along the pursuit route.
