High School Football Week 2 Scoreboard


Anderson County 53 Heritage 29…The Mavericks fell behind early but rallied to crush visiting Heritage on Friday, 53-29. Trailing 14-0, the Mavs rallied behind freshman QB Stanton Martin, who led a drive capped by a 14-yard Mason Phillips TD run late in the first quarter. An interception by Thyshad Thrasher set up a Martin-to-Thrasher scoring pass from 9 yards out and the game was tied at 14-14 early in the second. Phillips ran for a score that gave AC a 20-14 lead with 8;44 to play in the half and the Mavericks scored again on a Phillips run to lead 26-14 at the half. Tate Holmes started the scoring in the third with a TD run to make it 33-14 with the extra point, intercepted a pass to set up his second rushing score of the game to put AC up 40-14. Homes ran for his third score from 33 yards out later in the third to make it 47-14. Marquise Gallahar capped AC’s scoring with two-yard score early in the third and the Mavericks hung from there for their first win of the season.
